Artist's Comments

x_X This is officially my very first tutorial... and please keep that in mind, and this too: I'm horrible at explaining things, hands down. Oh, and I lost my original brush, so it's not exactly the same as the brush I used in the commish I did of the little boy.. Ehg, sorry.

Here's the text instructions if you get fed up with the photo:

1. Create a new page, about 200x200 pixels at whatever resolution you wish. I put mine at about 200 DPI. On your new page, select the custom shapes tool, right below the text tool. Find the star shape (a little past halfway through the list). Make a star, any size you want. Be sure to make it black, unless you want a transparent quality to your new brush.

2. After you’ve made your star, you’ll want to distort it a little. Go to Edit – Transform – Distort. Just pull on the bottom left corner until the perspective has changed. Once you’re okay with your starshape, go to Layer – Flatten Image. Then, Edit – Define Brush... Name the brush whatever you want to.

3. Next, you get to set the star brush settings. Go to Window – Brushes. First, go to Brush Tip Shape and Click on Shape Dynamics. Make the Shape Dynamics to the following:
Size Jitter: 33%
Minimum Diameter: 1%
Angle Jitter: 36%
Control: Pen Pressure
Roundness Jitter: 1%
Control: Off
Minimum Roundness: 25%

4. Next, select Scattering and fit the following settings:
Scatter: (check the Both Axes box) 934%
Count: 1
Count Jitter: 86%
Control: off

5. Select Color Dynamics and match the following settings:
Foreground/Background Jitter: 0%
Control: Off
Hue Jitter: 8%
Saturation Jitter: 15%
Brightness Jitter: 5%
Purity: +10%

6. Finally, at the bottom of the Brush Presets, mark the boxes reading Smoothing and Protect Texture. These are not necessary, but they do help. Now select a color and test out your new brush. Remember to save your brush in the end so you don’t have to do this all over again, because that would seriously suck. I recommend the color//hex code FFBD4B, for the orange-yellow stars.
Remember that some of these settings will only work if you have a Tablet. For example, the smaller stars won’t show up as well if you do not have a Tablet. I’m sorry about that x_x; Just mess with the settings until you get everything the way you want.

Finally, thank you for putting up with my crap tutorial. If you use the brush, please do credit me for it, it’d be nice. Thanks again, and have fun!

[ps] If no one uses this, I'm going to cry -- it took almost 3 hours to do :faint:
